Introducing our delicious pasture-raised duck

We’re big proponents of eating local as much as possible in every season, but summer is definitely one of the best times of year to enjoy food from your own backyard. Ontario has incredible produce (asparagus, tomatoes, strawberries, salad greens, summer squash, cucumbers and more) and VG Meats is proud to offer exceptional Ontario beef, poultry and pork products year round. In the summer months, though, we get to offer a few extras: pasture-raised chicken, farm-fresh duck eggs and now, our pasture-raised duck.

This isn’t your average duck

You may have had duck before, but if you haven’t had our incredible pasture-raised duck, you don’t know what you’re missing. This product is exceptional—rich, moist, delicious and so much more flavourful than other duck products you've tried. Pasture-raised duck isn't gamey or tough—like our pastured chicken, it's a mouth-watering product that makes a perfect addition to your summer grilling rotation. It’s a must-try, and it’s only available while supplies last! Here’s what we’ll be offering this season:

From fine dining to Keto and more

When you think about duck, you may picture fine dining—seared duck breast that’s been glazed with an elegant sauce, roasted duck breast with crispy skin, or even duck flambé. While these are excellent dishes, duck can be seared in more casual preparations as well. Consider serving it as an alternative to chicken when you want a change of pace—you can grill duck breasts or duck sausages for a delicious, nutrient-rich weeknight meal. Roast it with some potatoes and sweet carrots, or sear it to serve with a fresh green salad. It doesn’t need to be complicated to be delicious!

In addition to tasting great, duck offers plenty of health benefits. It’s an excellent source of iron, riboflavin and niacin that's ideal for Keto diets. Riboflavin has many benefits—it’s a great nutrient for growing children in particular as it supports your nervous system and energy levels while giving you healthier skin and hair. Duck is also a great choice for individuals with low iron, as one serving provides 50% of the iron you need in a day. We’d call that a super food!
