Mother’s Day ideas from VG Meats

Mother’s Day weekend is here and we’re looking forward to celebrating some of the incredible women in our lives. In many ways, moms make the world go around - and in both good and hard times, they sure make it feel like a better place. This weekend and always, we’re happy to tell moms what they mean to us!

Now more than ever, mothers are everything

A mother has always worn many hats but over the last few months, she’s taken on more roles than ever: mother, household manager, homeschool teacher, good neighbour, partner, friend, volunteer and more. Some new moms have had to dive into parenting without the support of their village around them. Many grandparents are missing their grandkids and other family members. Our hearts go out to everyone who is working hard, making sacrifices and giving their all to their families. You’re incredible!

We also remain endlessly grateful for the moms who double as essential workers, from medical professionals, delivery drivers, restaurant workers, grocery store staff and supply chain workers to the incredible farmers that make up our local food community. Behind every item on a grocery shelf and every restaurant meal you order to go is a network of food producers who are working diligently to feed communities all over Canada. This includes beef, pork and poultry producers, dairy farmers, agricultural producers and more. These industries are going through hard times right now, and the people behind them are working tirelessly behind the scenes. To these dedicated farmers and their hardworking staff, we say thank you - we at VG Meats recognize all that you do, and we’re thankful.

Show mom you care with a homemade meal

Gifts are great, but no mom wants to cook on Mother’s Day. You can start the day with a delicious brunch menu that includes her favourite things (we recommend at least one kind of bacon) and finish the day with her favourite homemade meal. We’ve got great in-store specials to help inspire you, including new ones coming out this weekend. Steak, pork tenderloin, prime rib, a roast chicken...these are all great options. Not sure where to start? Just ask our team for advice - they’d be happy to make some suggestions and offer tips. We’ve even got Ontario produce, condiments, local cheese and other specialty items in store. (Just remember what we said in our last post - you’ve got to do the dishes, too!)

To every single mom in our community, we say thank you and wish you a very happy Mother’s Day. We hope you feel as special and appreciated as you truly are. VG Meats would also like to extend a special shout out to the many members of our staff who are mothers - we know you give it your all at home as well as at work! It’s impressive to say the least.

And to the moms close to our own family - Mom VG, Grandma VG and our amazing wives - we love you! Thank you for being the heart of our family, and for everything you do for your children, partners and other loved ones. You genuinely mean the world to us and we’re grateful for you always.
