Here’s your official reminder: Mother’s Day is coming
If you’re a mom (or a dad), you’ve probably cooked a LOT of meals lately. With thousands of kids home from school, there seems to be a never-ending stream of snack requests in every house across Canada. How many meals can one kid eat in a day?! The answer is hundreds. (We have kids - we get it.)
Moms are used to balancing a lot of things but lately, that need has been kicked into overdrive. Worker, childcare provider, household manager, homeschool teacher, family chef and crisis navigator - they’re doing it all and then some. With that in mind, we’d like to put it out there that Mother’s Day is juuuuuuust around the corner (it’s on May 10th this year, which is next weekend). Yes, we can see it on the horizon, and it’s time to get planning! Here are a few ideas from our team.
Cook her favourite meal
If Mother’s Day brunch is your family’s tradition, you can make it happen at home. Make sure you have some great bread, local jams, fresh eggs, and of course, lots of bacon (we’ve got classic pork bacon and beef bacon online, plus more options in store). If you want to try something different, go with a breakfast casserole or some homemade cinnamon rolls.
A special Mother’s Day dinner is a great idea as well. Set a nice table, have some heartfelt cards and gifts ready and serve her favourite meal. Don’t forget - you’re on kitchen clean-up duty, too. It’s her day off!
A gift from the heart
If you’ve already ordered a gift online, you’re ahead of the game (good job!). That said, we know that some families’ budgets are tight this year. Just remember - what matters to most moms is the love and effort put into a gift. Consider making something she’ll appreciate and enjoy, doing an act of service (cleaning the house, planting some flowers in the yard, or whatever else helps). If she likes to sleep in, make sure she’s uninterrupted! Make her coffee or tea and set up a home spa (a hot bath is always a good idea). You know her best, so do some brainstorming with the kids and come up with a plan that will make her day. And when in doubt, just ask! Most moms will happily tell you how they’d like to spend Mother’s Day.
Thanks for reading, and remember - we are open in Simcoe, Stoney Creek and online. If you’d like any help planning your Mother’s Day menu, just visit us in store, message us on Facebook or give us a call! We’d be happy to help.
