How to create the perfect Family Day brunch

How to create the perfect Family Day brunch

Family Day is on Monday, February 21st and we’re looking forward to some quality time with our loved ones. We’re also looking forward to some delicious meals shared around the family table—and it all starts with brunch.

Here’s some inspiration for the best-ever Family Day brunch at home. Remember, you can visit us in store or shop online at VGFarmToCity.ca. Our Family Day collection is here!

Start with some farm-fresh eggs

VG has amazing farm-fresh eggs available in store and online. They’re perfect to enjoy scrambled, poached, fried or in a ham-and-cheese omelette (we’ve got the ham and the cheese, of course). Or, use this recipe to make an incredible Eggs Benedict at home! It’s easier than you might think.

Add your favourite bacon

No brunch is complete without bacon, and we’ve got plenty of delicious options. Choose from our classic pork bacon, maple bacon, thick cut bacon, cowboy coffee-rub bacon, beef bacon, peameal and more. Or, cook up more than one kind! If you have a big family (or just REALLY love bacon), there’s no reason not to go all out.

More meat? Yes please.

Bacon is amazing, but it’s not the only brunch-friendly meat in town. Try some pork breakfast sausages or grill up a nice steak to go with those eggs. Our mini steaks are the perfect choice in the morning (or, go with a full-sized Denver steak) and these hash browns are great on the side. Yum!

The final touches

Once you’ve figured out the main hot dishes, it’s time to add the finishing touches. We love adding a fruit tray with plenty of fresh berries and sliced melon. You definitely need some great coffee, tea and juice options, and baked goods are a nice addition. Consider some croissants or scones from a local bakery, some homemade muffins, cinnamon toast or a simple loaf of fresh bread. You can also make a stack of small pancakes or French toast triangles to complement all of that delicious local meat. Be sure to set a nice table and add all your favourite condiments (hot sauce, ketchup, jams and jellies, etc). And, don’t forget the maple syrup—it’s perfect for dipping that bacon into between bites.

Good food and family go hand-in-hand, and we’re looking forward to sitting around the table together on Monday. From all of us at VG Meats, happy Family Day!
