Happy Mother’s Day from VG Meats

Mother’s Day weekend is almost here, and we’re ready to celebrate the incredible moms, grandmothers, stepmoms, foster moms and other maternal figures in our lives and community. Whether you’re able to spend the day with your mom or are honouring her memory, we hope you’re able to enjoy some quality time with your loved ones this Sunday. (And maybe a quick trip to the spa, too, if you’re a busy mom who already gets a LOT of “quality time” with her family throughout the week!)

However you celebrate, VG Meats has everything you need for that delicious Mother’s Day brunch or dinner. Here are a few Mother’s Day notes from our team—we hope to see you soon!

A word about moms

As a family-owned and operated business, we know a thing or two about great moms. VG Meats is currently run by four brothers—Cory, Chad, Kyle and Kevin Van Groningen—who were raised by a world-class mom, Joan. Joan continues to be an important part of the business as well as an incredible mom and grandmother. The VG brothers had the added benefit of wonderful grandmothers and other maternal figures in the family, and now they’re married to amazing women who are mothers to their own children. That’s a lot of women to celebrate, and each one of them is uniquely special!

When we try to put the love, skill and devotion of the Van Groningen women into words, it’s hard to know where to begin, so we’ll say this: a kind, loving, dedicated mom is one of life’s greatest gifts, and the VG family includes a number of women who exemplify this role. Today and always, we’re grateful to them.

We’d also like to wish a very happy Mother’s Day to the moms who work at VG Meats and to our many customers who are moms. We hope you have an amazing weekend!

Celebrate Mom with a delicious meal

If you haven’t planned your Mother’s Day breakfast, brunch or dinner yet, now is the time. Here are a few ways to celebrate Mom with an amazing home-cooked meal.

Breakfast in bed: If Mom’s an early bird, set your alarm clock and be ready to offer a simple yet delicious breakfast in bed. Start with some farm-fresh eggs, classic pork bacon, fresh bread with her favourite jam. Add a glass of orange juice and a fresh cup of tea or coffee. Flowers would be a nice touch!
Brunch: Let her sleep in, then treat her to her favourite brunch foods. In addition to the breakfast items noted above, we suggest breakfast sausages, peameal bacon and some charcuterie. If you grab our Breakfast Bundle, you’ll save on some of your favourite local products! Don’t forget to add some fresh fruit and pastries, plus some Greek yogurt and Bayfield Provisions granola. Yum!
Dinner: Make Mom’s favourite dinner, whatever that is! We suggest a great Ontario beef steak, a prime rib roast, roasted chicken with lemon and herbs, smoked pork chops with apple chutney, or something from our Fine Dining Collection.
