3 spring updates from VG Meats
It feels like spring just got here but in the blink of an eye, it’s nearly June and the official start of summer is just weeks away. We have plenty to look forward to in the weeks ahead! There’s a lot going on around the farm and in our retail stores this time of year, which makes it a good time to touch base and share a few updates and reminders from the VG Meats team. Our pastures are thriving
After a long winter and a brief muddy stretch, we’re pleased to share that we have cattle on pasture at Hillview Farm in Haldimand County. The fields are already looking lush and green, and we’re seeing plenty of clover and native grasses growing across the fields. It’s a beautiful sight—there are birds everywhere, the soil is healthy and rich with insect life, the plant life is thriving and the cattle are doing their thing (mowing down on those lush green pastures, irrigating the soil with their movement and leaving compost behind). We love seeing holistic management in action!
Our shelves are bursting with high quality local products
In addition to delectable Ontario beef, poultry and pork products, our shelves are bursting with incredible products sourced from local artisans and food producers. We’ve got honey from Rosewood Estates Winery, small batch artisan granola from Bayfield Provisions, naturally-flavoured sparkling beverages from The County Bounty Artisanal Soda Co., plus fresh local dairy products from Jensen Cheese and Summit Station. Their chocolate milk is a must-try! We’ve also got plenty of fresh Ontario asparagus in store while supplies last. Do not miss out on this stuff—it’s from a local farm in the Delhi area, and it’s the best asparagus you’ll get all year.
