What we’re grateful for this Thanksgiving weekend
Thanksgiving feels like the perfect time of year to pause and reflect on what matters the most to us, including the many people and things we’re thankful for each day. Gratitude is something we try to incorporate into our daily lives, but this weekend, we’ll be approaching it with even greater mindfulness and intention. In that spirit, the VG family would love to share a few things we’re thankful for this holiday weekend. We hope you’ll take a moment to do the same—it’s a great way to kick off your Thanksgiving traditions.
Family, friends and the best team in town
As a fourth generation family business, we’re a pretty tight knit group. Mom and Dad VG are still a huge part of daily operations and us brothers (Cory, Chad, Kyle and Kevin) are proud to work alongside them. We’re grateful for each other—what better business partners than your siblings?—and for the many fantastic people we employ on the farms, at our processing facility in Norfolk County and in our retail stores. The VG family is also grateful to all of the community members who put our products on their dinner table each week. We are so blessed to do what we love every day—even more so because we get to do it as a family. Thank you to all of our customers for your support—it’s allowed us to have this life we’re so grateful for!
On a more personal note, we’re grateful to our partners and children for keeping life interesting, joyful and filled with love. To have great family and wonderful friends is a gift, and we don’t take it for granted. To say we’re thankful doesn’t even begin to explain it!
Finally, we’re deeply grateful for the land we live, work and play on. We are committed to nurturing the soil, waterways, air and other ecosystems that feed us so well, using holistic agriculture practices to achieve regenerative outcomes and contribute to better healthier communities for decades to come. We’re dedicated to making improvements to these holistic practices year after year, always striving to do better and exceed the standards we’ve set. This is a promise we’ve made and an opportunity we appreciate. In our minds, there’s no other way to farm!
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!
The list of reasons we’re thankful could go on for days, but there’s a gorgeous fall weekend ahead to enjoy. From the Van Groningen family and the entire VG Meats team, happy Thanksgiving. We hope your holiday weekend is restful, joyful and filled with delicious local food. Remember, our retail stores will be open on Saturday for any of your last-minute holiday dinner needs: turkeys, dinner rolls, fresh produce, local artisanal products and more. We look forward to seeing you and hope you have a wonderful weekend!
