March Break Activities for Families

It feels like we were just talking about Family Day activities here on the blog, but time flies and here we are again with the kids out of school - this time, for a whole week! Quality time with our families is invaluable, but we know that planning a whole week of fun activities for kids can be challenging. Here are some ideas to get you started - enjoy!

Check out a maple syrup festival

Canada is famous for its maple syrup and Ontario is famous for its maple syrup festivals. There are plenty of great events within a short drive of either VG Meats community (Simcoe and Stoney Creek, respectively). Go enjoy a day of maple treats, beaver tails, pancakes, arts and crafts, wagon rides, and old-school games the whole family will love. You might even get to pet some farm animals or score a pony ride! Some of our favourite festivals are at Mountsberg Conservation Area, Bronte Creek Provincial Park, Elmira Maple Syrup Festival, Crawford Lake and Westfield Heritage Village.

Free family fun at the library

The Norfolk County Public Library is hosting a variety of free activities over March Break, including storytime, musical performances, movies and craft sessions. A full list is available here, on their website.

“Marsh Break” at the Royal Botanical Gardens

Located on the Burlington/Hamilton border on Plains Road, RBG has plenty to keep kids busy. There is an exhibit on Frogs that is great for kids of all ages, and next week is full of “Marsh Break” activities to keep families busy. Bring your hiking shoes and get outside on the trails while you’re there!

March Break Madness at the Hamilton Children’s Museum

This small but entertaining music is all about kids, and they’re hosting a ton of family activities over March Break. Little ones can build, touch and explore a variety of exhibits designed with creativity and interactive play in mind. The prices are very affordable ($9 gets a whole family into the museum). Have fun!
